July
13-15 (Mon.-Wed.) 2009. Beijing University of Technology
(BJUT), Beijing, 100124, China.
*Conference Scope*
Innovative creation, development, and dissemination of research ideas
and results on the interface between statistics and engineering for the
support of complex system design and operation, quality and reliability
improvement, and optimal proactive decision-making.
Our current data-rich environment provides unprecedented opportunities
and research challenges for both the statistics and engineering
communities. The development of a novel interface between statistical
analysis methodology and various engineering technologies and solutions
is not only timely, but also has a lasting impact on improving complex
system operations both in manufacturing and service
industries.
In order to promote strong collaborations and multidisciplinary
research between these two research communities, this conference will
bring together worldwide leaders, researchers, developers, and
practitioners to exchange research ideas and results for future
development of this emerging research area. The conference will feature
lectures, panel discussions, and paper presentations, along with an
active social program in the historic city of Beijing in
China.
The topics of interests include, but are not limited to
* applied statistics,
* data mining and machining learning,
* statistical data analysis integrated with engineering models,
* quality and reliability engineering,
* optimal decision making,
* optimal manufacturing and service enterprise systems.
The interface between methodological development and applications are
encouraged. Examples of those applications include
bioinformatics,
information processing and extraction, business decision-making,
sensors and sensor networks, production and manufacturing,
nanotechnology,
healthcare, and financial and service operations.
The Mayo Clinic College of Medicine is pleased to announce the opening
of registration for its 2nd Annual Conference on Systems Engineering
& Operations Research in Health Care, to be held August 17 and 18,
2009, in Rochester, MN. The conference will present both applied
and theoretical work on
* Models for health care delivery & system design
* Models for outpatient and surgical scheduling
* Models for workflow and staff management
* Models for clinical outcomes management and disease progression
Plenary sessions will focus on strategies for building the analytical
infrastructure to support improvement of the health care delivery
system, and for teaching essential concepts of systems engineering and
operations research to health care providers and managers.
Submissions for the poster session are still being accepted. If
you are interested in presenting a poster at the conference, please
email an abstract of 300 words or less to seor@mayo.edu by July 17.
The audience for this conference includes health care providers, health
care managers & administrators, systems engineers and operations
researchers, and academics in related fields.
Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego. August 23-25, 2009,
Post-conference training, August 26-28, 2009
The conference is aimed at bringing together researchers and
practitioners to learn about data mining technology from practical and
theoretical experts. Expect to exchange ideas and experiences focused
on the practice of both data mining and the real world analysis of
complex data. The Conference is intended to serve several
functions:
• A venue to exchange ideas and experiences focused on the
practice of data mining and the art and practice of real world analysis
of complex data.
• A place to learn about data mining technology and
anticipated future developments.
• An opportunity to obtain both basic and advanced training
offered by practical and theoretical experts.

- 26 September 2009, Venice, Italy
The workshop will focus on the most innovative mathematical methods
proposed in the last few years for the analysis and design of networked
systems. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers from
control, computer science, communication, game theory, statistics,
mathematics and other areas to discuss emerging topics in networked
systems of common interest.
Saturday, October 10, 2009. Sadiego, CA.
The
Data Mining (DM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) subdivisions of
INFORMS are jointly organizing the workshop in conjunction with the
INFORMS Annual Meeting 2009. The previous three workshops were well
received with more than 20 presentations and 100 attendees each year.
IICAI-09 will be held in Tumkur (near Bangalore), India during December
16-18 2009. The conference consists of paper presentations, special
workshops, sessions, invited talks and local tours, etc. We
invite draft paper submissions.
February 25–28, 2010, in Atlanta, GA.ASQ’s
(American Society for Quality) Healthcare and Quality Management
divisions, and The Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) and its
Society for Health Systems (SHS), will launch a joint conference
focused on healthcare quality and process improvement. The new joint
conference will be held February 25–28, 2010, in Atlanta, Ga.
The conference will
bring together healthcare quality professionals, performance
improvement specialists and other healthcare professionals involved
with or interested in developing the quality and operations improvement
skills and knowledge needed to successfully manage complex healthcare
environments.
"This is a tremendous
advancement for the industry and a great opportunity for the members of
both societies," said Pierce Story, president of SHS and managing
director at Jumbee, Inc. "This powerful alliance will foster and
strengthen the natural synergies between performance improvement and
quality management, thus enabling a more effective and efficient
healthcare system."
Both organizations will
co-chair this event, which will offer a combination of high quality
education sessions, daily workshops and an opportunity to network with
well-respected and knowledgeable process and quality improvement
experts from throughout the United States.
"We believe that this joint conference is a bold step toward
significantly impacting the health and well-being of our communities
and hope this alliance will spur additional intra-industry cooperation
and synergies, as we all strive to build a better healthcare delivery
system," said Dr. James Levett, ASQ Healthcare Division chair.
