Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in quantitative field, such as Applied Math or Statistics, Behavior or Social Sciences, Operations Research, and Engineering.
  • 2-5 years experience working with data and utilizing quantitative techniques to solve marketing or business problems, such as campaign analysis, program optimization, customer segmentation, and predictive modeling.
  • MS Excel expertise – logical functions, lookups, pivot tables, external source data, dynamic charts and tables, editing and writing macros, VBA.
  • BI tools experience also helpful
  • Organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to work both independently and with teams.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with external clients and internal cross-departmental partners.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Business Intelligence: Cognos, Business Objects, Microstrategy, Hyperion.
  • Data: MS SQL Server, Oracle
  • Statistics: significance, error, sample size, ANOVA, design of experiment, SAS/SPSS

Are you a Cognos expert looking for the chance to drive business intelligence solutions at one of Oregon’s top private companies? We’re looking for someone to lead our BI efforts expanding our reporting (both developed and self-service), training end-users and leading ongoing maintenance and development of our data warehouse. You’ve likely spent the last five or more years mastering the ins and outs of Cognos BI and Planning and by now you’re a goto person for creating advanced reports using Report Studio, Metrics Manager, Event Studio and Analysis Studio. You know the difference between drill-down and drill-through and have used html and Javascript to polish complicated reports.

Must have:
-A deep understanding and experience with Cognos BI and Planning (version 8)

Responsibilities
• Position provides data-driven information and analytic solutions in the area of statistical modeling, in a direct marketing environment, with particular emphasis on lifetime value, policy life expectancy, loss experience, and premiums for auto insurance clients.
• Work directly with clients to help them discover potential avenues for improvement of their marketing and underwriting results via modeling.
• Assist in the training and development of intern as they relate to use of SAS and scoring processes
• Responsible for standard and ad-hoc results pulls and analyzing results (identifying trends, comparing program performance, and reporting results)
• Use Visio and PowerPoint to create presentations, assist with software issues, communicate analytics department information to other members of TPG
• Ideal candidate will play a key role in the management and coordination of our internal data-driven marketing scoring system, working with both clients and vendors to score, select, and mail potential customers
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or Mathematics, or related discipline required; CAS exams a plus
• 2-4 years experience with creating logistic regression models for auto insurer(s)
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the desire to work with large amounts of data is needed (A high-level of attention to detail is critical)
• This position requires proven proficiency in the use of base SAS programming and procedures, SAS Macros, and SAS SQL. Experience in the use of ODS for data reporting and organization preferred, along with ability to import and export data between Excel, Access and SAS
• Individual must be well organized and capable of handling multiple ad hoc requests for information simultaneously (Requires ability to work within tight deadlines, handle technical data issues, and set priorities accordingly)
