Reports to Director of Analytics
Focus on this role is hands-on expertise in market mix modeling –
panel data, shopper data and a lot of ad-hoc analysis and modeling of
print, radio or TV – very cross functional.
Description:
- Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects for Customer Insights department
- Manages the implementation of a marketing mix
analytical process by leveraging technical expertise to identify and
adopt best practices for retail marketing mix insights
- Develops actionable strategies and presents
recommended business actions to various stakeholders Drives business
decisions by translating business issues into statistical analyses
- Ensures team performance by managing daily activities
of external consultants; and overseeing data collection, methodology
development, statistical model development, and presentation of
findings.
- Designs and manages statistical models by determining
the scope of research; selecting the research vendor; determining the
experimental design; validating the model accuracy in answering the
business questions; outlining the analytical plan; and developing the
business recommendation. Synthesizes information by interpreting
research results; reconciling learning from disparate studies;
resolving conflicting pieces of information; and integrating complex
studies into simple concepts.
- Ensures consumer insights are incorporated into category marketing plans
- Assesses aspects of marketing effectiveness by
identifying business issues needing explanation; analyzing consumer
behavior patterns and media data to determine the effectiveness of
marketing; and providing solutions to increase marketing effectiveness
to the consumer.
Minimum Qualifications for the Position: (Applicants must possess all of the following to be considered.)
8 years experience in Marketing Analytics syndicated research (an
absolute must have), including the management and performance of
marketing mix modeling across at least I of the following areas: print,
radio, television, and Internet; measuring advertising responses; and
pricing and promotion models.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
2 year experience in managing external resources (for example,
consultants, suppliers) resources (screening, coaching, training).
Master’s in Marketing, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field, with course work in Marketing and Statistics.

(1) Manager-Trade Promotion Modeling:
Build account specific statistical models using state of the art
modeling techniques that will optimize bottoms up forecasting and trade
promotions for our business unit. This role will also maintain and/or
improve forecasting accuracy through advance analytics; provide
consumption data to multiple systems. Leverage trade promotion models
to answer ad-hoc business questions.
(2) Manager-Store Analytics:
Convert complex data into business solutions using top of the line
statistical methods. Lead the effort to provide fact based modeling
insights to customer business plan & value added promotions.
Provide expertise, insights & technical knowledge to sale &
marketing organizations across multiple business units to enable fact
based decision making. Impacts the future success of company by
evaluating the effectiveness of marketing & sales programs and
deliver insights that lead to greater sales and profit.
(3) Manager-Pricing Analytics:
Lead the effort to build pricing models and tools used for
understanding pricing at national or retailer level for multiple
business units. Enable the effort to improve and enhance collaboration
with HQ and retailers by providing effective data insights to optimize
pricing. Impacts the future success of company by evaluating the
effectiveness of pricing actions and deliver insights that lead to
greater sales & profit. Leverage pricing models to answer ad-hoc
business questions.
Position Requirements
- Masters in Statistics or Economics is preferred with a minimum of 5 years experience.
- SAS programming knowledge is preferred.
- Knowledge of econometric modeling concepts, marketing mix analysis is required.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time is required.
- Excellent project mgmt, time mgmt, communications and presentation skills are required.
- Must have strong computer skills in: Excel & PowerPoint.
Preferred:
- SAS certification is preferred.
- CPG experience
- A strong understanding of a variety of statistical techniques (e.g. regression, ANOVA, cluster analysis) is preferred.

Responsible
for the effective leadership, organization and coordination of all
(technical and human) analytical resources in support of company-wide
compliance, medical management and business decision processes. Must
understand and challenge internal technical resources to achieve
alignment of them, with each other and with business goals.
The VP of Analytics must be familiar with Health Insurance and Managed Care Industry analytical concepts and reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Optimize efficiency of existing analytical tools, technical and human
resources in support of business needs; seeking automation and
technology solutions where appropriate to improve accuracy and
timeliness of reporting and analysis.
2. Management of analytics personnel and coordination with those from other company markets.
3.
Oversight of Data Governance process to assure effective allocation of
resources in support of stated business priorities. Coordination of
governance process with IT, actuarial and other senior management with
respect to identifying and managing business priorities and resource
needs.
4. Primary analytical liaison between analytical resources and senior management.
5.
Interpretation/translation of business objectives and needs into
analytical tasks, as well as translation/communication of analytical
results to business representatives in the proper context of business
needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.The successful candidate for this
position will be a strategic and dynamic leader with experience in both
the technical and business aspects of the Health Insurance and Managed
Care industry, who is able to apply his/her critical thinking and
analytical skills to solving complex business problems, and communicate
results in a clear and understandable way to business decision makers,
allowing them to quickly see what actions must be taken operationally
to correct problems and improve the performance of the business.
2.
Strong experience dealing with both the analytical and business sides
of a managed care or similar health industry organization.
3.
Excellent analytical abilities and experience in using information and
analytical solutions to understand and resolve business problems;
including the ability to translate analytical results into actionable
items for business personnel.
4. Experience with finding and
establishing enterprise solutions to replace “local” and one-off
solutions often based in desktop applications such as Excel or Access.
5.
Excellent managerial, organizational and communication skills and
experience; able to manage and motivate technical personnel.
6.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the disciplined
practice of documentation with respect to analysis, and the ability to
present complicated, technical information in an understandable and
relevant way to non-technical and senior management personnel.
7.
First-hand experience and skills with respect to programming, data
extraction and manipulation, relational databases, analytical software
and programming languages.
8. Familiarity with medical and industry
terminology commonly used in the analysis of health insurance and
medical management business problems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•
Bachelor’s degree. Preference is for degrees in computer science,
mathematics, biostatistics, epidemiology or other similarly technical
or analytical field.
• Five to ten years in the health
insurance/managed care industry. especially in the analysis of medical
care outcomes, trend drivers and other medical or financial analysis
related to the business of insuring and providing quality medical
benefits to beneficiaries.
• Five years of formal management experience; .
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be fluent in English; fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
